  • Assignment 1: Due on Thursday, August 30, 2012. (Section 1.1 nos. 16, 38 and Section 1.2 nos. 54, 64 out of two points each with the last 2 points awarded if the other problems look good.)
  • Assignment 2: Due on Thursday, September 6, 2012. (Section 1.3 nos. 8, 30, and Section 1.4 nos 18, 54 out of two points each with the other two points awarded if the other problems look OK.)
  • Assignment 3: Due on Thursday, September 13, 2012. (Section 2.1 no. 36, Section 2.2 nos. 12, 20, and Section 2.3 nos. 6, 28 out of 2 points each for a total of 10)
  • Assignment 4: Due on Thursday, September 20, 2012. (Nos. 5, 6, 8, and 10 out of two points each with the other 2 points if the rest of the problems seem OK.)
  • Assignment 5: Due on Thursday, October 11, 2012. (Section 3.4 no. 8, Section 3,2 no. 26, Section 3.3 no. 34, and Section 3.5 no. 38 out of two points each, and award the last two points if the other problems look OK. Section 3.4 no. 12 is ignored.)
  • Assignment 6: Due on Thursday, October 18, 2012. (Each problem out of 5 points.)
  • Assignment 7: Due on Thursday, October 25, 2012. (Section 4.2 no. 12, Section 4.4 no.12, and Section 4.5 no. 26 out of three points. Tenth point if Section 4.2 no. 36 makes sense.)
  • Assignment 8: Due on Thursday, November 8, 2012. (Section 5.2 no. 26 and 30 out of four points with the last two points if the other two problems look OK.)
  • Assignment 9: Due on Thursday, November 15, 2012. (nos 14, 18, 20 and 52 out of two points each and the last two points if the other problems look OK.)
  • Assignment 10: Due on Tuesday, November 20, 2012. (Section 5.5 nos 32, 48, Section 6.1 no 12 out of 3 points each and 10th point if the other two problems look OK.)

Due dates of assignments are written here for your convenience. However, they might be wrong for various reasons. Please refer to Blackboard for the exact dates.

Quizzes:

  • Quiz 1: September 4, 2012. (An administrative quiz. No comments.)
  • Quiz 2: September 11, 2012. (Each problem out of four points and the other two points for the paper being turned in.)
  • Quiz 3: September 18, 2012. (Each problem out of 3 points. Some of them have common terms to factor out. If fail to factor out a common term deduct one of the three points. The tenth point free with a submitted paper.)
  • Quiz 4: September 25, 2012. (Five points per problem.)
  • Quiz 5: October 9, 2012. (Each problem out of 3 points and grant the tenth point for turning in an identifiable paper. On the differentiation problems grade with 2 points for the differentiation, and 1 for simplification. On the logarithm questions, a point each for each of the three rules: log of a product, log of a quotient, and log of a power.)
  • Quiz 6: October 16, 2012. (Five points per problem.)
  • Quiz 7: October 30, 2012. (Five points per problem.)
  • Quiz 8: November 13, 2012. (Four points per problem with two points awarded for the paper being turned in.)
  • Quiz 9: November 27, 2012. (Four points per problem with two points awarded for the paper being turned in.)

Tests:

  • Test 1: October 1, 2012.
  • Retest on Test 1: 7:30 AM Thursday October 11, 2012 in DH 2210.
  • Test 2: November 5, 2012.
  • Retest on Test 2: 7:30 AM Thursday November 15, 2012 in McConomy Auditorium.
  • Test 3: November 30, 2012.

Dropbox Service:

  • All supplemental materials are uploaded to a dropbox. Those materials include grading keys to quizzes, recitation problems and assignment solutions. Most of them are written by the instructor.
  • Initial letter of filenames strictly obey the following rules. A stands for assignment keys, R for recitation problems, T for tests and Q for grading keys to quizzes.
